Naturalists looking for a logo

The Whistler Naturalists need a logo, something that will look good on letterhead, T-shirts and a Web site, and sums up the group’s activities.

The Whistler Naturalists need a logo, something that will look good on letterhead, T-shirts and a Web site, and sums up the group’s activities.

If you’re not familiar with the group, the Whistler Naturalists host a regular educational speakers series, conduct bird walks and other nature tours around the valley, and participate in volunteer projects around the valley. The Naturalists focus mainly on education and cataloguing our natural surroundings with a goal of knowing nature and keeping it worth knowing.

To find a logo that reflects the natural elements of Whistler, the Naturalists are holding a local contest that is open to anyone. The only restrictions are that it should be simple, legible in different sizes, and look good in black and white – it may also be used in different colours, so it should be reversible as well. Ideas can be hand-drawn, or designed using computers.

The prize for the winning entry, which will be determined by the Whistler Naturalists board of directors, is a $100 gift certificate to Lotus Art Supplies.

The contest will wrap up at the Naturalists’ monthly meeting at the end of June.

Logos can be submitted in person to Whistler Naturalists president Veronica Sommerville at the municipal yards by Nesters, faxed to 604-935-1899, or sent by e-mail to veronicarobin@yahoo.ca.
