New blood at Upper Vision

Photographers Gutmann, O’Kane and Noppe on the walls

The Upper Vision Gallery at BBK’s Pub in Blackcomb Village has some new blood on its walls.

Photographers Arne Gutmann, Tim O’Kane and Brian Noppe are currently showcasing selections of their work in the cozy pub adjacent to Chef Bernard’s Ciao Thyme Bistro.

Noppe, a professional photographer with more than a decade of experience, is displaying in conjunction with the 2 nd Annual Whistler ArtWalk, a Whistler Arts Council event placing work by visual artists from throughout the Sea to Sky corridor in Whistler businesses throughout the month of July.

Gutmann, a painter/ski and snowboard photographer with a background in fashion, is known to cultivate an avant-garde edge in his work, and often incorporates eclectic found-object pieces such as skateboards and tennis rackets into his installations.

O’Kane’s Upper Vision selections feature artistic skateboarding and BMX action shots.

The gallery focuses on up-and-coming visual artists from the Whistler area working in all types of artistic media with exhibitions changing approximately every two months.

The pub will host an ArtWalk reception for Noppe concurrent with receptions in the other 26 ArtWalk venues on Friday, July 8, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Following the ArtWalk reception on Friday evening, the gallery will celebrate the exhibition as a whole until closing.
