The Whistler Mountain Bike Park crew is so enthusiastic about the new section of the Crank It Up trail they opened it a week ahead of schedule.

“This trail was designed for intermediate riders but it’s so much fun everyone is stoked on it,” said Tom Prochazka, Whistler Mountain Bike Park Manager.

With the addition of the new section, Crank It Up is now 4.5 km in length and has over 25 variations of wall rides, gap jumps, boxes and berms. One of the main features to the new trail is a 180-degree bridge that stands almost seven metres tall at its highest point.

The first section of Crank It Up opened in 2005 and has been a bike park favourite for visitors and residents ever since. Designed by the Bike Park Trail Crew and Gravity Logic, it was designed to give riders who might not be ready for the expert trails a place to hone their skills and push their limits.

Crank It Up starts at Olympic Midstation on Whistler Mountain and descending about 300 vertical metres to finish just above Heart of Darkness.

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park features more than 40 trails and over 200 km of terrain, all accessed by three chairlifts. The park has something for every mountain bike rider, from green trails for beginners to double black diamond trails for experts.
