Go bald for a good cause
Bald is a beautiful gesture.
On April 15, the second annual Balding for Dollars fundraiser is returning to the Garibaldi Lift Company, raising funds to support the Oncology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant wards at Vancouver Children’s Hospital.
Last year’s event raised $6,500, and organizers are hoping to raise as much as $8,000 this season.

NSCU joins 2010 bid
The North Shore Credit Union is being counted as an official Friend of the Vancouver 2010 bid after making a donation of $20,000 to the cause.
"The Winter Games are all about surpassing expectations and striving for excellence, ideals which are the foundation for NSCU’s 61 years of growth and community development," said NSCU president and CEO Chris Catliff. "NSCU is known for its strong roots along the Sea to Sky corridor and we’re excited to support the bid process that is reflective of community advancement and team spirit."
Donations from corporate supporters like the NSCU go towards financing bid activities.
According to the company press release, "The 2010 Games will bring significant economic benefits to B.C. and advance winter sports for Canada. Ultimately, the industrial investment and international exposure rewards will solidify Vancouver and Whistler’s position as two of the world’s premier cities in terms of quality of life and tourism."
Church seeking silent musicians
The Whistler Village Church is actively seeking singers, and all types of musicians to become part of a kind of ministry of music.
They are looking for silent musicians – people who have let their music talents slip over the years, and people who have musical inclinations but have never bothered to apply them.
The goal is to get people to rediscover or realize their musical talents first, and then to participate in a church music program.
In addition to Sunday Morning worship service music, the program will be putting on a Whistler Village Church In Concert series.
Some of the concerts planned include:
• April 2003 – Martin James and Sue Klassen In Concert present "Life Songs"
• December 2003 – Multiple performances of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" featuring soloists, a chorus, dancers and an orchestra presenting the story of a crippled boy who is visited by the three Kings who are looking for Christ.
