Paint the town plaza Whistler's artists are going to get a chance to paint the town red, or green or whatever colour they like. The Whistler Real Estate Company, in conjunction with Appia Developments Ltd., is offering the hoarding surrounding the Whistler Town Plaza construction site as a canvas for Whistler's artists to showcase their talents. According to Sharon Audley of the Whistler Real Estate Company, the idea follows in the footsteps of the painting of the plywood hoarding around the Larco site two summers ago. "A lot of people enjoyed the painting that went on at the Larco site," Audley says. "This project gives people an opportunity to get out there and get creative." Artists in three categories — amateur, professional and children under 12 — will have until the end of May to complete painting the 4x8 foot sheets of plywood. There are 148 panels available for painting. Judging will take place June 4. Winners in each of the three categories will be chosen and Appia Developments will donate prize money to the Whistler community group of the artist's choice. Fraser to receive Order of B.C.
