Coroner Peter Gordon expects his report on last December’s fatal Quicksilver chairlift accident to be released by the end of September. Gordon said this week he has finished the report and submitted it to the chief coroner for review. He predicted it would take another couple of weeks for the chief coroner to review the report and then it will be made public. One man died and another was left paralyzed when four chairs fell from the Quicksilver line last Dec. 23. A second man died later as a result of complications from the accident. B.C. Rivers Day, Sunday, Sept. 29, will be celebrated locally with a clean-up of Millar Creek by municipal staff, Whistler Angling Club and Whistler Rotary Club. Volunteers from the general public aren’t needed but are welcome to visit Function Junction to check out the clean up. B.C. If you haven’t been smiling this week as you drive between Twin Lakes Village and White Gold, you may not like your photo when it arrives in the mail. Photo radar was scheduled to be set up on Highway 99 between Alta Lake Road and Nancy Greene Drive from Sept. 9 to 15. When council gave blessing to photo radar it was suggested it wasn’t needed within municipal boundaries, but on the highway between Whistler and Squamish and between Whistler and Horseshoe Bay... The Whistler Museum is calling on architects, developers and anyone else interested in Lego building blocks to enter their Build a Building Lego contest this Saturday. From noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 the museum will be hosting the fun competition. You can create a building using supplied Lego blocks or build one at home and bring it in to be judged. Entry fee is $2, with all proceeds going to the Museum and Archives Society’s Building Maintenance Fund. Judging is at 3 p.m. Lego Canada is holding a sales meeting in Whistler this week.
