The first session of the Whistler’s Complete Canine Program will be held 18, 25 and April 1. The learning evening for dog owners costs $25 per person and takes place over the three weeks between 6 and 7 p.m. at the Myrtle Philip Community School Lounge. Week one sees Dr. Peter Dobias DVM make a presentation concerning the areas of canine nutrition, homeopathy and health. The second session, led by members of the Sea to Sky Canine Club, will introduce a variety of dog sports such as Ski-joring, Agility, Flyball and games. During week three Ward Faulkner from the Capilano Obedience Club will introduce trials, from basic utility levels to scent training, with demonstrations by his Obedience Trial Champion Shetland Sheepdog. Tanya Lawlor will also be on hand to explain the Canine Good Citizen Club and offer advice on dog training. Organisers wish to remind the public that the sessions are for owners only and puppies should be left at home. Call 932-4077 to register. A second session will be held in June. Can Whistler business evolve a plan to share training of employees? Can Whistler business create a communication centre which will allow them to exchange information and exchange training from business to business? Can a standard of skills training be created and recognized throughout the resort as the Whistler Spirit Program for customer service training? These are the questions that Whistler businesses will attempt to answer when they attend a round table at the Whistler Conference Centre, March 10. A labour partnership agreement with Human Resources Canada has allowed the Whistler Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the round table and to complete an inventory and needs assessment training in Whistler which will provide the basis of the discussion. All business people in Whistler are welcome at the round table. A number of providers of training will also be in attendance. There is no cost, but pre-registration is required. For further information, contact the Chamber of Commerce, 932-5528.
