Perfect parenting program The Coast Garibaldi health service and Sea to Sky Community Services society are joining together to ease the burden of parenting through education. The Nobody’s Perfect Program is aimed at parents of children from birth to age five. It caters towards young, single, low income, socially or geographically isolated parents, or parents with limited formal education. The program seeks to give parents access to accurate, up-to-date information on their children’s health, safety, development and behaviour. It is hoped that this will in turn encourage people to have confidence in their abilities as good parents. Nobody’s Perfect uses easy-to-read materials, group support and adult education techniques to help parents recognise and build on their own strengths and existing coping skills. Interested participants are encouraged to call Marilyn McIvor at the health unit — 932-3202 — or Barb Collins at Sea to Sky Community Services: 604-894-6101. Bake and Book Sale Saturday The Whistler Children’s Chorus is hosting a Bake and Book Sale on Saturday, April 3 between 2 and 5 p.m. in Marketplace. Funds from the sale will go towards helping the senior choir realize its goal of participating in Magic Music Days, held in Disneyland in May. As well as treats and books there will also be CDs and choir members will be on hand with sponges to wash down you car. Prom fund-raiser Your good taste can help send youth off into the world. The Whistler grad class of ’99 is selling frozen pies and cookies to raise money for their prom, to be held on Whistler Mountain in May. If the following sweets make your mouth water get hold of a grad. Apple, pumpkin, blueberry, strawberry/rhubarb, cherry pies or chocolate chip, chocolate Smarties and oatmeal cookies. If you can’t find a grad in time give Sylvie a call on 905-7016.
