Eat to heart's content The Over 50 Club of Whistler is inviting all members and member wannabes to a social evening, Wednesday, Feb. 4, starting at 7:15 p.m. to join Diego Marchese of the Heart and Stroke Foundation for an evening of interactive fun. The event takes place at the Whistler Mountain Ski Clubhouse, 2202 Gondola Way. Come and sample desserts you can eat "to your heart's content" while you learn the latest information on heart health. Judy Fosty, RN, will be on hand to test your blood pressure, but maybe before you win one of the lucky draw prizes so your heart will be beating normally. For more information, call Janet Kemper, community development co-ordinator: 938-8492, or 1-800-663-2010, ext 360. The Whistler Healthy Communities Initiative is presenting a Whistler Healthy Communities Forum, Feb. 24, 6-9:30 p.m. at Whistler Secondary. The workshops will be on affordable housing, child care, mental health, children and youth, employment, and transportation. This is the fourth community forum the Healthy Communities Initiative has held. Action plans from the first three forums were completed but the community is changing rapidly so it was felt another forum was timely. The Healthy Communities Initiative helps community groups work together collaboratively and co-operatively to develop community programs and policies. Everyone is welcome, but pre-registration is requested by Feb. 17. Call 932-0113 or fax 932-0599. Lots to do indoors, too Who says there's nothing to do but ski now that you're all grown up? You won't hear that from Whistler Parks & Recreation, who have a wide range of indoor sports and crafts to try. Computer for beginners ($95), Pottery ($130-$150), Wood shop (carving or woodworking $140), and adult league sports (league or drop-in basketball, volleyball, or badminton) are available now. For information about times, dates and fees, call 938-PARK or go to Meadow Park Sports Centre.
