Centra stakes pipeline trail Centra Gas is still keen on a Squamish to Whistler route for its natural gas pipeline that follows Highway 99. Notices staked in areas close to the highway announcing an application to stake out a Centra Gas route sparked rumours that the company was looking at the proposed Sea to Sky Trail as an alternative route to Highway 99. A call to Centra Gas discovered the Sea to Sky Trail had been looked at, but it is a longer route than the still-preferred highway corridor, explained Brendon Rose, project manager. Working with the Ministry of Highways to get the approvals needed is still going on, but should be concluded within a couple of months, Rose says. Take off, eh? Whistler Air Services says it's ready to take off with regular scheduled floatplane service to Vancouver Harbour, docking next to the Pan Pacific Hotel. Morning and evening flights are available, making recreational and business commutes possible. Flights take just 30 minutes. Connecting flights to Victoria are available from Vancouver Harbour. Whistler Air has been flying scenic tours for 14 years. The floatplane base is on Green Lake by the Nicklaus North golf clubhouse. Complimentary van service takes you into the village, or vice versa.
