Bird expert R. Wayne Campbell will be the guest speaker at AWARE’s annual general meeting, Jan. 27 at Myrtle Philip school. Campbell, senior research biologist at the B.C. Wildlife Branch of the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks, is British Columbia’s foremost researcher of birds and is currently completing the landmark four-volume Birds of British Columbia. His slide presentation and lecture is aimed at anyone interested in birds and will be followed by a question and answer session. AWARE’s members and volunteers are the backbone of environmentalism in Whistler and help influence municipal and provincial policies on a wide variety of environmental issues. The annual general meeting takes place at 7 p.m. in the Millar Room at Myrtle Philip school. Whistler Animals Galore will be celebrating their annual Pictures with Santa event on Saturday, Dec. 19. Starbuck's coffeehouse will be hosting the event outside of their cafe between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. Professional photos will be taken by the crew at Coast Mountain Photography and will come in a frame, ready for Christmas giving. Don't have a dog? Come out anyway and Whistler Animals Galore will loan you one. Free dog walks will be available to willing and able canines. Don't forget your leash.
