Whistler’s third Annual Town Meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 9, exactly one week before municipal elections are held. Results from this year’s municipal monitoring program will be presented at the meeting and a workshop on the municipal transportation study will be held. The Annual Town Meeting is an opportunity for everyone to participate in discussions about the state of the municipality and where it is going. Whistler will begin advertising for a human resources officer, a position the Urban Systems’ organizational review of municipal operations recommended be created. The human resources officer will report to the administrator, but a new administrator is unlikely to be in place before late October. The actual hiring of the officer will be left to the new administrator. Council decided to begin the process by advertising for the new position partly because to save time and partly due to pressure from municipal staff. The Strut Your Stuff community registration fair is Saturday, Sept. 7 at Whistler Secondary, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the teams and activities that will be registering people Saturday are: Whistler Minor Hockey, Whistler Gymnastics, Whistler Swimming, Guides, Brownies and Sprites, Whistler Multisport, Whistler Figure Skating, Whistler Children’s Choir, West Coast Tae Kwon Do, Whistler Cubs & Scouts and snowboarding and skiing groups. Other community groups and coaches that will have information booths are B.C. Sport, Whistler Community Services, RCMP, Sports Injury, S.A.F.E., municipal Parks and Recreation, the Quilting Club and the Bible Club. Whistler Minor Hockey and Figure Skating will also be hosting an equipment swap. Used equipment can be dropped off for a $1 or $2 fee from 9 a.m. Pickup unsold equipment at 2 p.m. Call Bonnie at 938-1580 for information about the swap.
