The Whistler Public Library and Whistler Museum and Archives Society’s joint plan for a three storey, permanent facility received a boost at the library’s 10th anniversary celebration Sunday.

The Whistler Public Library and Whistler Museum and Archives Society’s joint plan for a three storey, permanent facility received a boost at the library’s 10th anniversary celebration Sunday. The library and museum boards have twice met with Whistler council concerning their plans and council is now committed to the development process. Architect Eldon Beck, who planned the original village and Village North, has also expressed his support for the plan, which would see a three-storey building on the site where the temporary library and museum facilities currently sit. The municipality has made no financial commitments to the library/museum plans, although there is some money in the capital review to buildout for a facility of that type. The museum also dedicated its rotating exhibit space Sunday to Walter Zebrowski. Zebrowski, who passed away in June at the age of 83, was a long-time supporter of museum. The skis the Polish war hero carried through Europe and the Middle East during the Second World War are on display at the museum. As of Monday this week, Creekside Pharmacy is offering postal service in Whistler Creek. Creekside Pharmacy will be handling all postal needs, including parcel pickup service. Canada Post advises customers to check the address on any "request to call" cards to determine your correct pickup location. It may be at Creekside Pharmacy or at the regular post office in Marketplace. Creekside Pharmacy is located at 2011 Innsbruck Drive. The Whistler Fire Department will be holding an open house at the fire hall Sunday, Oct. 6. The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. with a performance of the Firehall Players Puppet Show, featuring the clowns Pumper and Ladder. The rest of the day will feature demonstrations put on by the four fire department teams. There will also be interactive displays and games. The fire department will also be offering rides in the Ladder 31 bucket, Bang for a Buck car bashing, a car wash and a barbecue. Proceeds from these events will go to the firefighters charity, the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The barbecue starts at 11:30 a.m.
