Coast Mountain Veterinary Services, in co-operation with AVID Canada, have provided municipal bylaw officers with a microchip scanner for the identification of lost pets. The $500 scanner can be used to identify lost pets that have had a microchip implanted in them. The microchip is easily implanted without the use of anesthesia. The chip is linked to a North America-wide data base that has a 24-hour toll free number that can provide the name, address and telephone number of the pet’s owner.
