As of Tuesday, Nita Lake Lodge is owned by Tumuluri Asset Management Inc. and managed by T&V Hospitality Inc.

Tumuluri Asset Management includes partners Ram Tumuluri, Jamal Hotel Holdings Ltd. and the Varshney family.

Managing Director Ram Tumuluri will head the takeover team and lead the day-to-day operations of the hotel.

"We've got quite a few things planned, the first thing being to build the brand of the luxury boutique hotel, as it was designed to be," Tumuluri said Wednesday.

A high-end spa is part of the plans, Tumuluri said. He has also been in discussions with Rocky Mountaineer about bringing the Whistler train to the train station that was built as part of the Nita Lake Lodge but has never been used.

"I have a relationship with (Rocky Mountaineer founder) Peter Armstrong from past business dealings so we will be working with them," Tumuluri said.

He also wants to build up the lodge's restaurant, Jordan's Crossing, and sees the Nita Lake Lodge as being an integral part of the revitalization of Creekside.

"I want to work with other businesses in Creekside to do that," Tumuluri said.

He is aiming for a May launch of the revitalized Nita Lake Lodge.

Tumuluri Asset Management bought the lodge from Nita Lake Lodge Corporation, a deal that includes all the public spaces in the lodge and 51 rooms.

T&V Hospitality Inc., a company related to Tumuluri Asset Management, is the third company to manage the Nita Lake Lodge since it opened in January 2008. Boutique Hotels and Resorts of British Columbia was the first management company. Last spring Integrated Hospitality Management took over management.

Ram Tumuluri's background in hotel management includes a post-graduate degree in Business Management from Birmingham University in the UK and a Culinary Arts degree from Osmania University in India. After holding various senior positions with Marriott International Hotels, Tumuluri brought his management skills to the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino. Tumuluri is the owner of Cable Cove Inn and Spa in Tofino and Ayurcare International in India, Canada and South Africa.

The Jamal family is the owner of Jamal Hotel Holdings Ltd. with four hotels across B.C., and the owners of Retirement Concepts, the largest private operator of seniors' homes in British Columbia. The Varshney family owns Varshney Capital Corp, a venture capital company based in Vancouver that invests in a variety of sectors such as real estate, mining and technology.

Situated on the shores of Whistler's Nita Lake, the lodge features 77 studios, one- and two-bedroom suites.
