Nordic Court selling quickly

A whirlwind buying frenzy has left only five units up for grabs at the Whistler Housing Authority’s Nordic Court building.

Earlier this month the WHA announced that the 21 rental units in the building were being offered for sale.

Current tenants were given first crack at the units and took three units right off the bat.

Next, residents on the housing waiting list were offered the chance to buy and on Tuesday 55 people on list walked through the building. By the end of the day 13 had put down deposits.

"We’re very pleased with it," said the WHA’s Marla Zucht, who was at Tuesday’s open house.

She said the majority of the purchasers were in their early 30s to early 40s and there was lots of excitement in the air.

The five remaining units will be open to the public on Saturday, July 24.

There are only two-bedroom units left on the market. They are selling for $305,000 to $317,000.

Though the units will still be a part of the WHA inventory, they will not be price restricted. The only restriction is that a Whistler employee must occupy the units.
