If you were late organizing a Backyard Brainstorming session for the Official Community Plan (OCP) update, you're in luck.
The municipality has extended the deadline for the brainstorm workbooks to the end of September to allow for more time for anyone who wants to participate.
"The deadline was simply a deadline because we wanted to get everything done before people went back to school but there were a number of organizations that needed extensions into September," said Kevin Damaskie, sustainability coordinator for the RMOW.
He said they have received 16 submissions so far and are expecting six to eight more, which will put them beyond their set target of 20 workbooks.
"We're happy with the input so far. It's been amazing," he said. "All-in-all, (this) has been a highly successful experiment in community engagement that takes the process to the community."
The workbooks provide community members the opportunity to take part in the OCP process on their own terms. Individuals should meet in groups of 10-12 to discuss their concerns. Through these discussions each group will form a consensus as to what they feel needs to be addressed in the OCP.
Workbooks are available at municipal hall and available for download through www.whistler2020.com.
