O’Donnell new CEO at Aspen Former Whistler Mountain Ski Corp. president Patrick O’Donnell is now the number one man at the Aspen Skiing Co. O’Donnell, 58, added the chief executive officer title to his portfolio following the retirement of former CEO Bob Maynard July 5. O’Donnell is now president and chief executive officer of the Aspen Skiing Co., responsible for all operations of the company. Since he left Whistler Mountain in June 1994 to become chief financial officer of the Aspen Skiing Co. O’Donnell has been groomed for the top job. He became president, the number two position in the company, in January 1995 overseeing all ski operations at the company’s four ski areas, Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk. As CEO O’Donnell adds responsibility for the company’s accommodations operations. Aspen Skiing Co. owns the Little Nell Hotel, Snowmass Lodge and Club (including an 18-hole golf course), and manages Aspen Meadows. Maynard had served as Aspen Skiing Co.’s CEO since 1988. He urged the company’s owners, the Lester Crown family of Chicago and Gerald Hines of Houston, to hire O’Donnell two years ago. Maynard also hired O’Donnell at Keystone in the 1970s.
