Olympic services director to speak in Whistler

The former Olympic Services director of Park City, Utah, Frank Bell is visiting Whistler next week.

He will discuss how the 2002 Winter Olympics affected his town at a special morning meeting Feb. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Delta Whistler Village Suites.

Topics of discussion are likely to include the benefits and downfalls Park City experienced in hosting the Games and how local businesses can get involved in the process.

Bell was responsible for negotiating contracts with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and other Olympic entities. He also managed Park City’s public property and facilities dedicated to the Games, did traffic planning, transportation and security and managed the impact the Olympics had on his resort community.
