One dead, five injured after car crash

One man was killed and another five injured Oct. 23 when a northbound blue Chrysler Intrepid missed a right-hand turn approximately one kilometre south of Britannia Beach.

The car crossed the incoming lane and went into the ditch on the opposite side, landing on some trees.

The RCMP responded at approximately 4:25 a.m., contacting emergency services. One person, identified as 58-year-old Ajit Singh Phagura of Surrey, B.C., was pronounced dead at the scene. Five other passengers were transported to Squamish and Lions Gate hospitals with various injuries.

The RCMP are still investigating the crash, and are looking to see whether alcohol, speed or fatigue were a factor.
