One million skiers and counting Whistler-Blackcomb has clocked one million skier visits and the milestone this year came two days earlier than last season. David Perry, vice-president of marketing and sales for the mountains, said the one million hump was reached two days before Valentine’s Day this year. Last season that mark was achieved on Valentine’s Day, and by the end of the winter Whistler-Blackcomb had seen a record-breaking 2.13 million skier visits. This year the mountains are confident they will again achieve over two million visits. "We will be very pleased if we are able to match last year’s huge number," said Perry. "And frankly, we are optimistic that business levels from now until Easter, or until the end of April, look very strong." This year Easter falls three weeks later than last, which should help extend the season. The World Ski and Snowboard Festival has been moved one week later in April plus the Reunion 2000 event is slated for the last week of April. "We feel we should have a strong April for all those reasons. If you add it all up, it looks pretty good."
