A 23-year-old Ontario man currently residing in Whistler was arrested early Sunday morning after he assaulted a female cab driver in Whistler Village.

Police arrived on the scene around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Sept.6, said Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.

"Police approached a large group (on Village Gate Boulevard) and pushed several people back, noting one male laying on the ground protecting the back of his head. All the parties advised that that male had just assaulted a cab driver," LeClair said.

The heavily intoxicated male was handcuffed and detained while police spoke with the victim.

"She said the male assaulted her, twisting her wrist, pulling her hair, after refusing to pay for his cab fare," LeClair said.

The male was released the next morning by way of a promise to appear in a North Vancouver court.

SUSPICIOUS FEMALES IN PEMBERTON

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, Sept.7, Pemberton police received a report of two females breaking into vehicles in the 1400 block of Vine Road in Pemberton.

"The complainant didn't observe the females take anything from the vehicles or have anything in their hands when they left, just rummaging through them," LeClair said.

Both females are described as being in their 20s, tall and with slim builds. One was wearing a blue plaid shirt, while the other had her hair in a long ponytail and was wearing a baseball cap and dark coloured tights.

They were both wearing headlamps.

"If anybody has any information about who these two females might be we'd be interested in knowing," LeClair said.

RCMP SEARCH FOR SUSPECT IN AUGUST SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police are looking for a suspect involved in an incident that occurred on Aug. 15.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on that date, police received a report of a woman who had been sexually assaulted.

"She met a male at bar close who offered to drive her home," LeClair said.

"In the truck the male made sexual advances towards the woman, putting his arms around her, kissing her. She pulled away, but the male persisted."

The woman escaped without a struggle and the incident was subsequently reported to police.

The male is described as a Caucasian with short, dark hair and a slim build. He was driving a black pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP.
