Whistlerites waiting for their first sip of a double-double may have to wait a little longer than expected with the opening of the resort's first Tim Hortons likely delayed until March. Dan Clark with Sitings Realty said he expects the 90-square-metre coffee shop will open "sometime in March." Initial reports said the store could open as early as January.

The new Tim Hortons will be home to 10 indoor seats as well as a large outdoor patio area with ample seating and a fire pit. The location will not include a drive-thru, as current municipal legislation only permits one drive-thru in the resort, at the Marketplace McDonald's. This bylaw is widely considered to be one of the hurdles that kept Tim Hortons from moving into Whistler in years past.

Clark was not prepared to confirm any of the other tenants in the new 348-sq.-m. retail complex at the corner of London Lane and Highway 99, which is still under construction. There is space for an additional two or three retail units in the development, which will also include a surface parking lot with 16 stalls and direct turn access.
