Out of Bounds photo call

Sports, arts images wanted for February exhibition

Sports and arts unite under the banner of the second annual Out of Bounds: Tales from the Backcountry photography exhibition and competition for the month of February, part of the Celebration 2010 festivities.

Photographers venturing outside of the chairlift circuit are invited to submit photos for the Whistler Arts Council’s 3rd annual competition.

Presented in partnership with Coast Range heliskiing, the photo contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers living in the Sea to Sky corridor and Lower Mainland. Photos entered must be attained by foot, snowmobile, helicopter, watercraft or dogsled — no chairlift access is permitted.

Submissions will be judged on artistic merit, composition and technical skill.

Images computer manipulated and/or developed into artwork will be judged in a separate category. The images will be exhibited separately and are not eligible for the competition’s grand prize.

Artworks selected will be showcased throughout February at MY Place as well as other spaces around Whistler.

The public votes for the Best in Show with the winning photographer and one member of the public receiving a helicopter skiing trip.

The submission deadline is Dec. 29. Application forms are available by contacting info@whistlerartscouncil.com or by calling 604-938-9221.
