Paralympians to parade through village Sunday

Tickets to the closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games have been sold out for weeks, but that doesn't mean people can't still come out and take part in the fun.

Tickets to the closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games have been sold out for weeks, but that doesn't mean people can't still come out and take part in the fun.

The Whistler Live! team has coordinated a special parade to lead the athletes into Whistler Medals Plaza on Sunday, March 21, the final days of the Paralympic Games.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. in Village Square, Whistler talent represents with go-go dancers, a float, DJ Mat the Alien and much more entertainment. Then flagbearers and the RCMP join the procession, leading 1,050 para-athletes down Village Stroll and into Whistler Medals Plaza.

Even if people don't have tickets to the main event, they'll be able to catch all of the action as the celebrations are broadcast live on the Whistler Live! screens throughout the village. Plus, there are some serious fireworks in store, which will be visible throughout the village.
