Pemberton chamber hosting employment seminar

  The Pemberton & District Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an employment standards seminar for business on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Pemberton Community Centre. The cost is $10.

An employment standards representative from the Ministry of Labour and Citizen’s Services will lead the discussion, starting with the basic question: Does your business have or will it have employees? If so, then you need to know about B.C. Employment Standards Act and how it applies to your business.

Topics will include: Basic standards and responsibilities; employee or independent contractor?; managers; wage rates, paying wages, wage statements, and record keeping; hours of work and overtime rules.

This in depth seminar will walk you through case scenarios, sample calculations and provide opportunity for discussion and questions and answers.
