Pemberton partners with province on OneStop Business Registry

Business registry open 24/7

The Village of Pemberton has become the 69 th local government to join the province’s OneStop Business Registry. The service will allow business license applications to be processed on-line.

In practical terms this will mean a more cohesive information exchange with local government. For example, a resident wanting to start a new business would enter all their data online. The VOP would then be notified and the appropriate staff person would be directed to follow up with the business owner. This efficiency will save both time and money.

"OneStop is part of our commitment to citizen-centred service delivery," said Finance Minister Carole Taylor. "We’re making our services more accessible and responsive so that entrepreneurs can spend less time dealing with government and more time growing their business and creating jobs."

The registry was jointly developed by the province, the Canada Revenue Agency and WorkSafeBC. The program services include:

• A Business Address Change service, which enables a business to notify multiple federal and provincial public sector agencies and local governments of an address change, in one step;

• A Business Number service, which enables each B.C. business interacting with the public sector to be assigned a business number – a unique identifier that makes working with the public sector simpler, easier, and more convenient;

• The Corporate Registry’s Name Approval service, which combines business name search and approval processes.

OneStop services can also be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the website at
