Pemberton skate park gets some Action

The Pemberton Skateboard Park Society has enlisted Whistler’s own good time funk rockers Slow Nerve Action for a fundraising event this Thursday at the Pemberton Hotel.

Who: Slow Nerve Action

What: Pemberton Skatepark Fundraiser

Where: Pemberton Hotel

When: Thursday, Sept. 2

Tickets: $5

An integral part of Whistler’s live music scene, the band is infamous for their music’s sexy subject matter and raucous live shows that often inspire audience members to disrobe along with energetic front man Chris Berry.

All proceeds from the show’s $5 cover fee will be donated to the project, which was launched approximately one year ago.

Organizers estimate that previous fundraising efforts have so far brought in approximately 30 per cent of the $180,000 needed to make the local park a reality.

The park is to be constructed on land donated by the Village of Pemberton beside the proposed community centre, across from the Pony Espresso.

Pemberton Youth Centre Co-ordinator Wendy Hanson, a strong proponent of the park, is the force behind Thursday’s event, which also includes a silent auction.
