A group of teenage girls walking home from the Pemberton bus terminal Saturday night encountered a male masturbating in the bushes along Pemberton Meadows Road. The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 510" and in his mid-to-late 20s. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt, white shorts and dark shoes.
The teens first noticed the man as they were walking west of Birch Street out of the village at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. He overtook the girls, crossed ahead of them and disappeared into the bushes about a half kilometre from the village centre. When the young women passed by where the man had entered the bushes, they observed him masturbating with his shirt off a short distance from the road.
The three quickly proceeded to their destination and contacted police. They did not sustain any physical harm.
An RCMP investigation of the incident, RCMP patrols which including the questioning of area businesses that were open at the time did not reveal any further information about the suspect.
"Were treating this as an isolated incident," said constable Devon Jones, media liaison for the Whistler-Pemberton RCMP detachment. "We were very thorough with our search. Now all we can do is keep our eyes and ears open."
