Pemberton Valley forms new hardball league

Registration in person, Canada Day

Registration for the premiere season of the newly formed Pemberton Valley Little League (PVLL) opens July 1 for an abbreviated summer season. The first season will be open to boys and girls aged five to 12 who live in the communities of Pemberton, Mt. Currie, Birken and D’Arcy.

In person registration will be available at the Pemberton Community Centre on Canada Day from 1 to 5 p.m. Registration forms can also be dropped off at the community centre until the July 9 deadline.

Registrants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and a birth certificate, and proof of residency (i.e. utility bill, cable bill etc) to the registration table. Teens, up to 17, can register for the off-season program starting in September in preparation for full league play in the spring.

Little League Baseball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with more than 2.7 million players and 1 million volunteers in 105 countries. In Canada, more than 40,000 youth participate.

PVLL will also be hosting a community garage sale on July 15 to raise funds for the upcoming year’s expenses. Anyone interested in providing items for the sale or volunteering should contact Irv Olfert at 604-894-2323 or Anita Burleson at 604-894-5944.
