A Pemberton woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposed of trafficking.
Charges have been laid against Wendy Warnes, 43, after a search of a residential dwelling in the 1300 block of Pemberton Farm Road.
The search, which took place shortly before midnight on May 18, produced multiple ounces of cocaine (including "crack"), psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, hashish and tablets of unknown content. Police also seized various pieces of drug paraphernalia at the residence, including scales, pipes and syringes. As well, client lists, cell phones and pagers that could indicate drug trafficking were also discovered onsite.
Although RCMP described the premises as being "well-guarded by the alleged traffickers," there were no incidents arising from the arrest of Warnes and two unidentified males. Const. Devon Jones, media liaison for the Whistler-Pemberton RCMP detachment, said that no charges had been laid against the two males.
The search and subsequent arrest was a result of a combined effort of the Whistler-Pemberton RCMP and Stl’Atl’Imx Tribal Police who had obtained a search warrant based on information provided by members of the public.
Warnes is set to appear in Pemberton Provincial Court on July 14, 2005.
