A Pemberton woman was found with symptoms of a drug overdose in the village this week, police said.
At about 1 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, police encountered a 40-year-old female in “medical distress” and apparently overdosing on the Village Stroll, said Whistler RCMP Sgt. Rob Knapton. Police eventually transported the woman to the Whistler Health Care Centre for treatment, as an ambulance was unavailable at the time.
Knapton did not know what substance or mixture of substances the woman had used.
Police said the provincial Ministry of Children & Family Development was notified, as the woman’s four-year-old child was present during the incident. The child’s father, who exhibited signs of impairment, was also present, police said.
Toronto man arrested in domestic dispute, police say
A Toronto man was arrested on multiple charges after he was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute at a Whistler hotel last week, police said.
Police attended the scene in Creekside at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old man. Police recommended several charges, including assault, mischief and driving while prohibited.
The man was held in custody awaiting his court date.
Chilliwack man flees on foot after driving dangerously in Whistler taxi loop, police say
A Chilliwack man is facing charges after he was reportedly caught driving dangerously in the Whistler taxi loop and subsequently fled the scene on foot.
At about 1 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, officers observed the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver. The driver, however, accelerated towards the officers, “almost hitting some bystanders,” police said in a release.
Another officer eventually managed to stop the vehicle before the driver fled the scene on foot. He was located nearby soon after and was arrested for the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, police said. The 33-year-old man was held for court on numerous charges, including an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said.
Repeat offender arrested after stealing liquor from Whistler restaurant A 25-year-old man is facing charges after he broke into a Whistler restaurant and stole several bottles of liquor, police said.
Whistler RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter at a local restaurant just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. Police were eventually able to identify and locate the suspect using surveillance footage, as the man had been caught attempting to steal liquor from another business the day before, RCMP said in a release.
Police are recommending charges of break and enter.
Neighbourhood dispute over sprinkler turns physical
An argument over a sprinkler turned physical last week, according to Whistler police.
At about 6 p.m. last Thursday, Aug. 16, police responded to a dispute between two neighbours that had reportedly escalated after one of the residents discovered that his neighbour’s sprinkler had been spraying water onto his property. Whistler RCMP said the dispute escalated when one of the people pushed the other.
Both individuals were eventually separated and the situation was deescalated, police said.
