Pemberton’s development services director resigns

David Allen heads to Logan Lake

By Cindy Filipenko

David Allen, Director of Development Services for the Village Pemberton, has tendered his resignation.

Allen, who has held the position for the past two years, has taken a position with the community of Logan Lake. Allen describes the move as “fulfillment of a career goal.” He will become the 4,000-resident mining community’s chief Administrative Officer effective April 30.

“It’s something I have been working towards for a long time,” said Allen.

Allen gave the VOP four weeks notice when he tendered his resignation Tuesday afternoon. Maintaining that his choice to move was one about position, not people, he offered high praise to his colleagues.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with the Village of Pemberton. The staff are excellent.”

The VOP’s chief administrative officer offered reciprocal praise.

“It was a pleasure working with him,” said Lori Pilon. “He brings strengths in from a lot of areas, including environmental sciences. I’m really glad for him. I know it’s something he’s wanted to do for a long time. I think he’ll do great.”

“There will be a big gap when he leaves.”

Prior to joining the Village of Pemberton, Allen had worked in the planning department of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.
