The Kokanee Valley Race Series got off to a rocky start this season with the first event being cancelled due to the snow and cold, but organizers had blue skies and sunshine for the second event on Thursday, Jan. 8. Almost 60 racers came out to race a giant slalom on Raven-Ptarmigan, with a long set of 32 gates and a vertical drop of 160 metres.
The next event is today’s super G on Whistler, followed by another giant slalom on Jan. 22 on Whistler. The cost is $25 to take part when you register in advance at Whistler Blackcomb guest relations, or $30 on the day of the race. For the events on Whistler, registration is available until 9:45 a.m. in the trailer at the top of Garbanzo Chair.
