For the families, kids, or the kid in you, Whistler street entertainment is now offered daily through the week, a presentation of Tourism Whistler.

The shows take place at Village Common, Town Plaza gazebo, Village Square, and Mountain Square between noon and 5:30 p.m.

This week catch Michelle Bush and the Whistler Fashion Police (or she might catch you); Rex Chequer and Joseph (Tetteh) Ashong, members of the international touring group Mandin Jata, who incorporate dance traditions from Timbuktu, Mali; a Vaudeville-style Western comedy act from Cowgirl Tricks; and Cirque Alexander, the silent, white-faced clown.

Friday, June 28

Where: Crystal Lounge

Colbourne, winner during the Whistler Talent night finals, performs solo on guitar tonight at the Crystal Lounge.

Brewhouse tunes are always hopping from morning to night. Outdoor patios make for great people watching in the village, alongside pitchers or specialty coffees. Near all the bars, clubs and shops in between Marketplace and central Village Square.

Down to earth pub but still in that Whistler style. Just a hop, skip and a jump over the construction zone that is Lake Placid Road in Whistler Creekside.

Citta’s central stage in Village Square attracts locals, patio-side, and visitors too. Best people watching spot to enjoy a variety of pints on tap. Open for lunch, low key candlelight dining upstairs into the summer evening.

Where: Amsterdam Pub & Café

Wooden interiors and all kinds of eye-candy décor make for a funky apres-pint or meal, in the Village Square. Patio too, with live music some nights. For an international, younger crowd visit the ’Dam.

Where: Black’s Pub

The warming floor for locals apres-ski. Located at the foot of both village gondolas. With snowcapped peaks and the downhill bike course in the background, enjoy their telescope to bear watch or star gaze. Tasty food, 99 brands of beer in a gilded silver menu, and 40 scotches to keep you reminiscing.

Casual atmosphere for warm conversation and cold beer. Bar staff operate a not-too-loud sound system of rock and roll numbers and the outdoor patio gives patrons the best air in the world.

As part of Canada Day in Pemberton, a Family Festival takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pemberton Secondary ball field today, in addition to the Teddy Bears and Seniors Picnic from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fireworks takes place in the evening.

Part of the Canada Day parade preparations, from 11:30 a.m. onwards. Parade starts at 2 p.m. at from Lot 3, heading south on Blackcomb Way to Sundial Crescent, and works its way through the village to the Olympic information building, next to the Brew House.

Openers Pete Couillard (of Whole Damn County) plays rock tunes from noon to 3 p.m. on the outdoor patio, followed by Guitar Doug and the Hairfarmers, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wes Makepeace goes solo on guitar with slower ballads and a bit of rock from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Totally Hip, the Tragically Hip cover band making waves locally, performs at this Canada Day bash held at the Shack from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. See article.
