What: Exposure, photo exhibition

Where: Whistler Conference Centre

When: April 14-19

The latest partnership formed by the Whistler Photographic Society includes and upcoming exhibit in conjunction with events at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

Jeanette Nadon director of communications for the Whistler Photographic Society, brings her experience in marketing images with Whistler-Blackcomb, as well as previous WSSF events, to the society.

"For a lot of photographers, there is a desire to create art with meaning. When you are shooting for an ad, or for weddings, someone else is directing which images you should take," says Nadon.

"I can’t think of a better partnership," says Catherine Yates, producer of the Exposure multimedia events.

Exposure takes place in the atrium at the Whistler Conference Centre. The free exhibition is open to everyone, and features both sports and mountain culture images.

Local photographers Eric Berger, Paul Morrison, Blake Jorgenson, and Bonny Makarewicz will be exhibiting work.

Bids can be made on the photos throughout the week, and confirmed at a silent auction the night of April 19 at the GLC.

Proceeds go towards Zero Ceiling Society of Canada, the non-profit organization which assists disadvantaged youth with outdoor experiences. The GLC fund-raiser is titled Raise the Ceiling.

Funds will also go towards workshops and guest speakers for the Whistler Photographic Society.

The Whistler Photographic Society is open to both amateurs and professionals. The society hosted its first exhibition earlier this year at Millennium Place.

A $35 annual membership reduces rates for upcoming photography workshops, as well as additional events upcoming, which tentatively include a photo art walk in the village.
