Driver allegedly punches skateboarders in road rage incident

Police are searching for the driver of a white van who allegedly assaulted two young skateboarders in the village this week.

At about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, Whistler RCMP began investigating an assault that reportedly occurred 30 minutes prior at the corner of Village Gate and Northlands boulevards. Police said in a release that the male driver, “in a rage,” punched and kneed both young men “without having been provoked.” The driver was reportedly a stranger to both males.

Whistler RCMP warns of possible counterfeit U.S. currency making the rounds

Whistler RCMP is asking the community to be on the lookout for counterfeit U.S. currency after a woman reportedly tried to pass off several fake bills at a village business this week.

Around noon* on Monday, Sept. 10, police received a call from a commercial business reporting that a woman had attempted to exchange several $100 bills of counterfeit American money. The suspect, described as a woman in her mid-30s with a dark complexion, refused to provide identification and fled the store—without the money.

“It was clear that this female had other bills in her possession that may have been counterfeit as well and police are advising that she may try to pass other fake bills within the community,” police said in a release.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, Whistler RCMP was notified that the south entrance to the conference centre had been tagged with graffiti.

Police have released an image of the graffiti as well as the alleged suspect, described as a Caucasian male in his mid-20s with dark, curly hair, a moustache and hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the detachment at 604-932-3044 or Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
