Police need help in stabbing crime

Police ask for assistance

Police are asking for help in an early morning stabbing of a young man at the taxi loop Sunday.

They are looking for a man in his early- to mid-20s who was wearing a white bathrobe at the time of the stabbing. He was with a group of people all wearing the distinctive white bathrobes.

The group of seven had been seen in various locations throughout the village the evening of Aug. 19-20, including the pool areas of several hotels.

At roughly 2:30 a.m. a female was pushed to the ground in the taxi loop. The victim was stabbed in the rib area at about the same time. He is in stable condition at Vancouver General Hospital.

Police are not releasing his name but said he was a 25-year-old seasonal Whistler resident originally from Quebec.

The group in bathrobes was last seen running into the village from the taxi loop along Village Stroll towards Mountain Square.

The suspect is described as a white male with very short brown hair.

Police are looking for any information about the incident. In particular, they are urging the female who was pushed to the ground to contact them immediately.
