Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying a man who reportedly tried to abduct a teenager from near a Pemberton gas station earlier this month.

On May 10, just after 7 p.m., a 13-year-old girl was riding her bicycle near the area of Highway 99 and Portage Road when an intoxicated man asked her if she wanted a ride and grabbed her by the arm.

The teen managed to break free from the man and pedaled away to safety before reporting the incident to police.

The man is described as being of slim to average build, possibly aboriginal, six-feet tall with greying black hair, brown eyes with a scar or scratch above his right eye. He is also missing several teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6634.
