Pemberton RCMP are asking the public for help identifying a suspect linked to a possible arson last week, according to a release.

At about 5:20 p.m. last Tuesday, July 30, local police received a report of a suspicious fire in the 7400 block of Urdal Road. Mounties said pedestrians in the area had noticed smoke coming from a brush area on the north side of the Arn Canal. One witness also reported seeing a young male running from the area shortly after the fire was discovered.

Pemberton Fire Rescue noted another suspicious fire on July 28 in the same general area, police said.

The suspect is thought to be in his late teens or early twenties, and was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and sunglasses at the time. Investigators said he was alone and left the area on foot.

Anyone with information on either of these fires is asked to contact the Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6634, or Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
