That is one expensive car to have taken away.

Squamish Traffic Services impounded five vehicles on Saturday, May 5, including a 2018 McLaren 720S worth approximately $462,000, according to an RCMP news release.

The McLaren was clocked at 151 kilometres an hour in the posted 80-km/h zone, police said.

Officers conducted enforcement on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove Saturday to mark High Risk Driving month in B.C.

It was a new driver behind the wheel, police noted.

Saturday coincided with the annual Hublot Diamond Rally, which sees a collection of luxury cars travel from Vancouver up the Sea to Sky Highway before ending in Whistler. The RCMP's release did not indicate if any of the vehicles stopped on Saturday were part of the rally.

Two cars involved in the rally were seized in 2017 after being caught "grossly exceeding" the speed limit on Highway 99, according to police.

Pique has reached out to rally organizers for comment.

Also stopped during enforcement was a motorcycle going 135 km/h in the 80 km/h zone.

"Police would like to remind motorists that speeding is considered one of the high-risk driving behaviours that leads to injuries and fatalities on B.C.'s highways," the release stated.

"The faster you go, the longer it takes to stop and the less time you have to perceive and react to a situation."
