There have been false starts before but Prime Air says it should be finished its Pemberton Airport terminal by June 1 and expects to begin scheduled passenger service between Vancouver and Pemberton by late summer. Royle Smith, president and chief operating officer of Prime Air Inc., flew into Pemberton with potential investors Tuesday to show off the company’s Dash 7 aircraft and provide a media tour. Smith said the company has an agreement in principle with a major international carrier that would make Prime Air a feeder or link airline providing connecting flights from Vancouver and Seattle to Pemberton. He expects to begin flights out of Seattle within 18 months. Smith said he expects airfare will be about $75 one way from Vancouver to Pemberton. Although low cloud cover and bad weather are not uncommon in the Pemberton Valley a survey done over the past three years suggests that with the microwave landing system available at the Pemberton Airport Dash 7 flights could have landed 97 per cent of the time.
