Only one event remains on the calendar for the annual Kokanee Valley Race Series, the giant slalom finals on March 28.

A total of seven races have been held so far this season, with two events cancelled due to the weather. The last event was a Super G held on Lower Cruiser, Blackcomb, on March 14.

With only one event remaining, some of the races for supremacy in the various skiing and snowboarding categories are going down to the wire. Competitors get to drop their worst result. Competitors earn 100 points for a win, 80 points for second place, 60 for third, 55 for fourth, 51 for fifth and so fourth.

Some competitors had their categories wrapped up weeks ago, like Grace Oaks, who is the only woman competing in the women’s 60 Plus category, or Moly Milligan in the women’s Snowboarder category, who has a 236 point lead heading into the finals.

Some competitors only need to show up on March 28 to win their categories, while some athletes need to defend their leads against the competition.

You can register for the final GS in advance at Guest Relations, or until 10 a.m. on race day at the Rendezvous.

Following the finals, there will be an awards banquet at The Crab Shack from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
