Raekwon storms Garfinkel's

Uses Mafia and gangster motifs

Raekwon, one of the infamous Wu-Tang Clan rappers, continues to take the hip-hop scene by storm, appearing at Garfinkel’s Sunday, April 16.

He may not have reached the stardom of fellow Clan mates Method Man, Ol’ Dirty Bastard or RZA, but with the release of his album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx , he became one of the most influential, revolutionary renegades of hip hop in the 1990s.

The album was instrumental in popularizing the trend of using Mafia and gangster movie motifs in rap music.

His work is also heavily featured in Ghostface Killah’s albums as well as high-profile singles from Fat Joe and Outkast.

He later created his own hip-hop team, Ice Water Inc., as well as The Lex Diamond Story with Universal Records 2003. The storyteller’s next album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II , produced by Busta Rhymes, RZA and Dr. Dre, is expected to be released late-spring.

Advanced $25 tickets available at Electric Daisy and The Circle.
