Two men are facing charges of assault with a weapon and charges are being considered for a third suspect after a late night brawl in a hotel elevator.

According to the RCMP they responded to a call of a fight in an elevator around 2 a.m. on Dec. 6. The officers attending the scene soon after located suspects on the second floor holding their belts. The attack with belt buckles was vicious enough that police have ordered DNA tests on blood found on one of the belts as well as the shirt of one of the attackers.

The three suspects are from North Vancouver and their victims were from the Lower Mainland as well. There's no word on what may have happened leading up to the attack. RCMP are still investigating.

Earlier in the evening the RCMP intervened in a dispute between a bouncer and an inebriated person who then punched an officer in the face. He was taken to the ground and arrested. He will be charged with creating a disturbance and assaulting a peace officer, as well as assessed a $500 fine for breaching the municipality's bylaw for obstruction. The suspect is a 30-year-old Whistler male.

Extremely drunk drivers stopped by RCMP

The RCMP is charging two Whistler residents with impaired driving, adding to the long list of drunk drivers caught in the act recently.

The first incident was called in by a concerned member of the public. When the police attended they found the vehicle parked outside a residence in Alpine Meadows with the engine running. They smelled alcohol when they spoke to the driver and gave him a roadside test, which he failed. He was then brought back to the RCMP detachment for a breathalyzer where he blew two samples of .240, three times the legal limit. The 35-year-old Whistler resident was held for the Justice of the Peace and is facing charges of impaired driving, and driving over the limit of .08.

On Dec. 4 at 3:20 a.m., police officers witnessed a vehicle attempting to turn onto Blackcomb Way from the day skier lots roll backwards and stop. When they approached the vehicle the female driver fell out of the vehicle and onto the pavement.

The 24-year-old Whistler resident was brought into the detachment across the road for a breathalyzer, and provided samples of .150 - almost twice the legal limit.
