A 28-year-old Burnaby man discovered the hard way that the control you get wearing a good pair of ski boots is null and void at the wheel of a car.
According to the Whistler-Pemberton RCMP, they answered a call at the local Husky at approximately 6:15 in the morning of April 4. The man was attempting to manoeuvre his car into a parking stall and wound up driving into the front wall of the gas station.
The man revealed that he had been driving in his ski boots and missed the brakes when he was driving into the gas station. He was charged with Driving Without Due Care.
Police investigate bear spray assaults
The Whistler-Pemberton RCMP are investigating three reports of bear spray being deployed against individuals in the late evening of April 2.
The first call was at a house party taking place on Oboe Drive. The second call came from Alpine Meadows. The third call came in at approximately 2 a.m. the next day in Parking Lot A.
The Whistler RCMP responded to a report of four youths smashing a window at Shakespeare’s Pies. As police were attending the scene a young male pulled out a can of bear repellent and sprayed the entire crowd, both inside and outside of neighbouring Busterino’s Pizza. One of the suspects fled the scene.
Two individuals were arrested as a result of the RCMP’s investigation. One of the suspects, a 17-year-old Whistler male, was arrested in relation to the assaults and charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breach of probation, as there were multiple probation orders against the man. As a young offender his name cannot be released.
The other suspect arrested was 19-year-old Adam Michael Barker who is currently residing in Whistler. He was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and released on strict conditions, including the condition that he stay away from Whistler Village.
RCMP searching for mailbox bandits
The Whistler-Pemberton RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred in the late evening of April 4 on the 6100 block of Eagle Ridge Drive. According to the police report, the suspect or suspects broke into the mailboxes located in the parkade, gaining entry to all 75 boxes.

Pemberton thieves still at large
The Pemberton RCMP are investigating a rash of break and enters in the Owl Ridge Subdivision north of Pemberton. Two homes were broken into with the culprits stealing power tools, a generator, two dirt bikes, a chainsaw and a mountain bike. Patrols have been stepped up in the area.
