If you don’t have the proper documents for your snowmobile, get them – the RCMP are currently conducting registration and ownership checks at local trail access points.

One check on Dec. 29 found a snowmobile reported stolen from Innisfail, Alberta. The driver, a 31-year-old male from Coquitlam, was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and was ordered to appear in Squamish Court in late March to face the charge.

Another sled that didn’t have papers was seized until the operator, a 33 year old from Vancouver, can prove ownership.

Registration and licensing are mandatory in B.C. under the Motor Vehicle All Terrain Act if you intend to sled on Crown land.
