The Whistler RCMP is investigating a flurry of car thefts that took place within a 24-hour period this week, all involving Dodge-brand vehicles.

On June 29 the owner of a blue 2000 Dodge Dakota, licence 8951DT, reported that the vehicle was stolen between 10 a.m. on June 28 and 4:30 a.m. on June 29 from the Fairmont Chateau Whistler parkade. The same day, June 28, the RCMP responded to an attempted theft in the parkade involving a black dodge Dakota.

On June 29 the RCMP received a call about a stolen Dodge Plymouth Voyager, licence CTD906, from the Crystal Lodge underground. The theft took place between 5:30 p.m. on June 28 and 11 a.m. the following morning.

A 1996 green Dodge pickup truck with a green canopy was taken from the Northstar condo development on Northlands Boulevard between 9:30 p.m. on June 28 and 6:30 a.m. on June 29. It was a secured parking area.

All three stolen vehicles were locked and there were no keys in the vehicles. The RCMP believe that the thefts are connected, and that a thief or thieves have found a way to steal older model Dodge vehicles.

Although Whistler had a known car thief in town recently, Joshua Kale Lunstrom was arrested in Vancouver last week for shoplifting, while already in violation of the conditions of his probation.

If you have any information regarding the missing vehicles, contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044.

The RCMP are also investigating thefts from vehicles on Nordic Drive dating back to June 23, followed by thefts on Sundial Crescent on June 25 and on Northlands Boulevard on June 28.

The RCMP remind people not to leave valuables in vehicles, and to use devices like steering wheel locks to deter thieves.

As well, The Pony in Pemberton was broken into in the early hours of June 27. According to RCMP the back door was forced open and an undisclosed amount of alcohol was taken.
