At 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 26 the RCMP received a call regarding a brawl on the Village Stroll at Town Plaza, and when they attended they found one male lying on the ground with serious injuries. From the crowd, the RCMP got a description of the suspects, which they located soon after - four Squamish residents aged 21 to 25 that denied they were involved. The victim, a Whistler male, received serious injuries including a broken jaw.
According to the victim, he was leaving a nightclub and was approached by a group of males that started to call him names before one of the males jumped him. A male was arrested and taken to the RCMP detachment but was later released.

Another reason to wear a helmet
Just before 3 a.m. on Aug. 27 a cyclist who was travelling north on Northlands Boulevard was hit on the head by a thrown beer bottle. None of the witnesses were able to say where the bottle originated from, and the male was treated at the Whistler Health Care Centre with cuts on his head. The victim, a 39-year-old Whistler male, was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Bachelor partygoers fined, evicted
At 11:02 p.m. on Aug. 27 the RCMP were called to a hotel after a security guard was assaulted by members of a noisy bachelor party that was disturbing guests.
The RCMP attended to assist in the eviction of the men and shortly afterwards two men were arrested - one placed his hand on the body armour of a police officer, presumably to push him back, resulting in an arrest for assault. Another swore at a police officer from the elevator in front of other guests and was also arrested. Both men, from Coquitlam, spent the night in the RCMP cells and were released the next day with fines for creating a nuisance. The police did not pursue the assault charge.
That wasn't the only case of an intoxicated male being arrested for assault. On Aug. 28 at 2:18 a.m. an RCMP foot patrol stopped a male with open liquor in front of a nightclub.
While the police wrote the man a ticket he became belligerent, initially refusing to give his I.D. then trying to snatch it back. The police then threatened to arrest the man for creating a disturbance, at which point he ran. Other officers attended and the male was quickly caught and placed in handcuffs after a tussle - during which a police officer lost a hat, that was then taken by a bystander.
A 41-year-old Whistler male was charged with obstructing a police officer and causing a disturbance and additional charges of assaulting a police officer may be added.
The RCMP are also asking the hat to be returned, as it's considered federal property and it's an offence to take it or use it in any situation.
