Whistler RCMP are still investigating an attack on a local woman in the Riverside Trail parking lot on Sept. 17 at approximately 5 p.m.

A woman who was jogging with her two dogs told police an unknown man jumped out of the woods and attacked her as she was getting into her car. After her dogs started barking and she screamed, she managed to get into her car and drive away. According to police, the man made no attempt to rob her or sexually assault her during the incident.

The woman called police at around 7 p.m. Later that night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., they picked up a man for questioning. He was released on a court document at 1 a.m. the next morning, and has not been charged.

"We’re trying to determine whether the suspect was known to the victim or if it was a random act. If we determine it was a random act, then we will be informing the media," says Const. Ray Bernoties.
